"The most beautiful feeling is when you care and respect the mentality of a patient with a chronic illness since birth."
Every year since 2013 the Yasmin El Samra Foundation-DEBRA Egypt in cooperation with El Sawi Wheel Center in Cairo has held a drawing competition in honour of Hanaa El-Sadat's daughter, Yasmin El Samra (1997-2012).
This competition was held for a week from 3rd to 10th March for children between the ages of five to 15 years. 140 children and 10 children with EB participated with two drawings each. The Guest of Honour was Salsabil, a 16-year-old patient with EB from Algeria, accompanied by her mother, sister, and brother. This was their second visit to Egypt and they were graciously hosted by Hanaa El-Sadat. She participated in the competition with 4 paintings.
Her wish was to visit the pyramids, take a boat trip on the Nile, visit the Al-Hussein mosque, and meet with her EB friends at Yasmin El Samra Foundation.
On the day of the award ceremony, she was invited on stage to celebrate her 16th birthday. It was an unforgettable moment in her life, she said.
To care, give and love are beautiful feelings to share and special to those who are in need.
